textures

                                                                    36 TEXTURES

The three textures below would be used in my monument.

Photos taken in cryEngine

First is the terrian I made, the picture is removes all the vegetation so you can see the terrian I create. Two layers, one is "grass" and one is "solid". The central features for this terrian is the vally and path between mountains.
Then is the one with vegetation. I add bushes, trees, rocks, river trees, grass. And using higher density and other settings to make them more realistic which is learn from youtebe vedios.

Here is the site for my monument. It is right on a cliff and facing the ocean.

The monument concept combined by Kahn's  "Powerful presence leading to a pinnacle point" and Calatrava's way of defying gravity. The figure bellow is taken inside monument which illustrate the point which the whole monument is leading to. It give the feeling of "touching". A kind of uncomplited feeling is revealed here. And this part is floating above the groud. which might let you feel if this part is too heavy or the basement net part is not so stable, the whole monument might fall down to the cliff. In order to enhance the contrast, I make the basement part by 5 intersected thin pieces. Which is like Calatrava's way of defining gravity.

As we can see, the monument is sit in front of the cliff and a footpath create at the space between cliffs.

And in front of the monument is the cliffs too. The grass looks like flowers in this picture but some other will show very realistic grass which is also one vedio tutorial in youtube teaches me.
I removes the vegetation beside monument which can give a better view of the back of monument and the foot path.

As human perspective to show the valley path. The cliff detail can be saw and it is the terrian "solid" I made.

Lower part of the monument like fens which has symmetry in a distort form. And the height of each walls allow the light to come through the outstand point and shine gradually form higher walls to lowers. Each space inside the monument will get some of sunlight and block some others.

The extented part of monument is hold by the lower fen structure which can allow people to walk toward the cliff and get a great view of ocean. The grass look quiet real in this picture.
Sorry about the textures. I check they are in my level folder and no matter how many times I try to change my manipulation of texture of my monument. The cryengine can read these photos. So I could just use the texture in cryengine itself.

3 monuments

Calatrava Defying gravity in an obvious way
Kahn Displaying in horizontal and vertical section simultaneously

For this one, the lower part if the unfold of one piece of material, like cut off the central part of it and make it . To outstand the gravity idea of the upper part, I use the significant contrast between the thickness of these two parts.
Calatrava: unconfined boundaries, permeable, porous sculptures
Kahn Powerful presence leading to a pinnacle point.
The upper drawing shows much more detail than the lower one. Because the side which sculpture facing is exposed, while the oppsing side is block. So the new concept is "enclosed".

Calatrava:  unconfined boundaries, permeable, porous scuptures
Kahn:Powerful presence leading to a pinnacle point
The basement part is organised by intersected 5 piece  of thin concret. The upper part is completely holded by the basement. And the image drags people's attention to the right hand side which the material is about to touch while not. This is presence leading to a pinnacle point.

Figure 7: balancing to appear as though it is defying gravity.
